Terms of Service

EFFECTIVE DATE: March 1, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Online Piano Lessons website, mobile applications, and all related services (collectively, the “Service”) provided by Online Piano Lessons.

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THE SERVICE. They contain important information regarding your legal rights, including disclaimers of warranties, limitations of liability, and other terms that affect your rights. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

1. GENERAL TERMS

Online Piano Lessons provides the Service to users seeking private music lessons (“Students”) and to users providing private music lessons (“Teachers”), as well as any other entity on whose behalf users accept these Terms.

The terms “you,” “User,” or “Users” refer to Students, Teachers, or any person or entity who views, uses, accesses, browses, or submits content or material to the Service.

You accept these Terms by:

  • Creating an account or contracting for lessons through the Service;
  • Using the Service in any manner; or
  • Acknowledging agreement with these Terms.

If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Teachers must also agree to be bound by our Teacher Agreement.

2. PRIVACY POLICY

We take the privacy of our users seriously. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information to provide the Service to you, as well as your choices regarding your information.

Please refer to the Online Piano Lessons Privacy Policy at https://onlinepianolessons.com/privacy-policy for full details.

The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference and forms part of your agreement with us.

3. SERVICES

The Service provides a marketplace for individuals seeking private music lessons (“Students”) to connect with those offering private music lessons (“Teachers”). Teachers are independent contractors and control the methods, materials, and all aspects of the lessons they provide.

Students are responsible for selecting a Teacher that meets their needs. When making hiring decisions, Students should review and verify each Teacher’s self-reported credentials, education, and experience.

If lessons involve a minor, a parent or responsible adult should supervise the lesson sessions.

Online Piano Lessons operates the Service from the United States and makes no representation that the Service is appropriate or available in all locations. Availability of Teachers and services may vary by location. Online Piano Lessons does not guarantee the delivery of any correspondence between Teachers and Students.

4. ACADEMIC HONESTY

You acknowledge and agree that Online Piano Lessons is provided to facilitate learning and private music instruction, not to complete work on your behalf. You agree not to hire Teachers to complete assignments, auditions, or other work for you.

You further agree not to use Online Piano Lessons for any purpose that violates the academic honesty policies or conduct rules of your school, university, or workplace.

5. YOUR OBLIGATIONS AND CONDUCT

By using the Service, you agree to:

  • Be of legal age and have the capacity to agree to these Terms on your own behalf or on behalf of a minor receiving private music lessons;
  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information as prompted by the Service (“Registration Data”);
  • Maintain the security of your password and account;
  • Promptly update Registration Data and any information you provide to Online Piano Lessons to keep it accurate and complete;
  • Refrain from inappropriate conduct, including but not limited to harassment, discrimination, violence, sexual or romantic behavior, or other conduct deemed inappropriate;
  • Accept all risks of unauthorized access to your information or Registration Data.

Use of Service by Minors Under Sixteen Years of Age
Users under the age of 16 may not use the Service without parental or guardian consent. Parents or guardians must provide consent upon registration, including a valid payment method, and authorize the sharing of necessary personal information with the Teacher. Accounts will not be created without such consent. If you become aware of any child under 16 using the Service without consent, please contact us at info@onlinepianolessons.com, and we will remove their information.

Online Piano Lessons may remove or edit Content that violates these Terms, contains third-party advertisements, or is otherwise objectionable.

You retain ownership of your Content, but you grant Online Piano Lessons a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, display, and publish your Content as needed to operate the Service. You represent and warrant that you have the rights to grant this license.

Do not send confidential or personal information other than your contact info. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information.

  • Uploading files that violate third-party rights or contain harmful code;
  • Circumventing the Service, impersonating others, spamming, or unauthorized access;
  • Advertising unrelated goods or services on the Service;
  • Reproducing, modifying, or distributing Service content without authorization;
  • Decompiling, reverse engineering, or interfering with the Service or other Users’ use.

By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you:

Online Piano Lessons may verify these representations using public records or other available methods and may suspend or terminate your account if you violate them. We do not conduct full criminal background checks and do not guarantee the accuracy of user-provided information.

Use of Service and Teachers at Your Own Risk
You are solely responsible for any decisions regarding engagement with Teachers or other Users, including conducting background or reference checks.

Online Piano Lessons disclaims, and you release it from, any liability arising from:

We reserve all rights under the Communications Decency Act, including removing any objectionable content. Concerns about other Users may be reported to info@onlinepianolessons.com.

6. THIRD-PARTY REPORTS

Online Piano Lessons may use third-party consumer reporting agencies to perform checks such as sex offender registry checks, motor vehicle records checks, credit checks, and identification verifications (“consumer reports”).

We do not endorse or guarantee the reliability, accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of any information in these consumer reports. We also do not independently verify the information provided by these reports.

By using the Service, you consent to Online Piano Lessons collecting, using, and disclosing information from these consumer reports. You understand that we may, at our sole discretion, review and rely on the information in consumer reports to:

  • Investigate complaints about a User;
  • Suspend or terminate a User;
  • Take any other action we deem appropriate.

Online Piano Lessons is not responsible or liable for inaccuracies, delays, or incomplete information in any consumer reports. Users who are the subject of a report may contact the reporting agency directly to dispute the information.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any User based on information in consumer reports or for any other reason at our sole discretion.

7. THIRD-PARTY VERIFICATION SERVICES

Online Piano Lessons may, but is not required to, make available one or more third-party verification services that allow Users to inquire about information such as another User’s identity or criminal history. Use of a third-party verification service is voluntary for both the party requesting verification and the party undergoing verification.

You agree that Online Piano Lessons shall not be responsible or liable for any inaccuracies in information provided by a third-party verification service. When using a third-party verification service, you warrant that you will comply with the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 USC 1681.

8. CONFIDENTIALITY OF ONLINE PIANO LESSONS INFORMATION

Through the Service, you may have access to certain confidential information of Online Piano Lessons, its affiliates, or other Users (including Students and Teachers). This may include, without limitation, technical, contractual, product, program, pricing, marketing, contact information, attendance, usage data, and other valuable information that should reasonably be understood as confidential (“Confidential Information”).

You must keep all Confidential Information strictly confidential. All rights, titles, and interests in the Confidential Information remain with Online Piano Lessons and its affiliates.

These Terms do not impose an obligation on you regarding information that you can demonstrate by legally sufficient evidence:

  • You possessed it before receiving it from Online Piano Lessons without an obligation of confidentiality;
  • It becomes generally known to the public through no fault or action by you;
  • You obtained it from a third party with the right to disclose it, without an obligation of confidentiality;

  • You are required to disclose it by a valid court order or governmental authority, or as otherwise required by law, provided you give prior notice to Online Piano Lessons sufficient to allow objection to the disclosure.

9. TERMS OF TRANSACTING BUSINESS

You agree to comply with Online Piano Lessons’ payment and scheduling policies, which may be updated from time to time with or without notice.

By registering for or purchasing services, you agree to pay the fees displayed at the time of purchase. You authorize Online Piano Lessons and its payment processors to charge the applicable fees as a condition of your access to and use of the Service.

All fees are non-refundable, except as expressly stated in our policies or as required by law. In addition to lesson fees charged by Teachers, you may be charged applicable cancellation or rescheduling fees.

10. RENEWALS

Unless you notify us at least 24 hours prior to your next scheduled lesson or billing date, your lessons or subscription (if applicable) may automatically renew. You authorize Online Piano Lessons to charge the then-current applicable fees, including any upgrades or applicable taxes, using any payment method we have on file for you.

11. ADVERTISEMENTS AND PROMOTIONS

Online Piano Lessons may display advertisements and promotions from third parties on the Service.

17. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES

USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ALL CONTENT, INFORMATION, AND SERVICES, IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

Online Piano Lessons DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, SATISFACTORY QUALITY, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Online Piano Lessons MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES THAT:

18. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

No Liability for Acts of Users (Including Teachers)
The Service provides a marketplace for those seeking private music lessons to connect with those offering lessons. You understand and agree that Online Piano Lessons has no control over the acts or omissions of any user, including teachers, and makes no representations or warranties about the quality of services provided by any user or third-party content. Online Piano Lessons is not responsible for the performance or conduct of any user, on or off the Service. Each user releases Online Piano Lessons from any and all liability for claims, disputes, injuries, or damages related to the Service, including acts or omissions of users.

No Liability for Access or Service Features
Online Piano Lessons is not responsible for delays or interruptions caused by Internet traffic, routine maintenance, upgrades, or other factors beyond our control. You acknowledge that the Service may not be available continuously, and Online Piano Lessons is not liable for any resulting inconvenience, loss, or damage.

Limitation on Damages
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Online Piano Lessons is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. This includes, without limitation, loss of business, revenue, profits, data, or goodwill, or damages caused by:

  • Use of or inability to use the Service;
  • Cost of substitute goods or services;
  • Conduct or statements of any third party; or
  • Content downloaded, used, modified, or distributed by users.

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on liability for certain types of damages, so these limitations may not apply to you.

Cap on Liability
In no event shall Online Piano Lessons’ total liability exceed the lesser of (a) the amount you paid to Online Piano Lessons or a partner, if any; or (b) $100. You agree that these disclaimers and limitations are material, bargained-for provisions and that they are fair and reasonable.

Exclusive Remedy
If you are dissatisfied with the Service or do not agree to these Terms, your sole and exclusive remedy is to discontinue using the Service.

19. ASSUMPTION OF RISK

You agree and understand that you assume all risks when using the Service, including, without limitation, any and all risks associated with any online or offline interactions with other Users. You agree to take all necessary precautions when interacting with other Users.

Any inappropriate conduct, including romantic, sexual, harassing, or threatening behavior, must be immediately reported to info@onlinepianolessons.com. No further contact should be made between Users. Failure to report inappropriate conduct may result in immediate removal from Online Piano Lessons’ platform.

20. INDEMNIFICATION

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Online Piano Lessons and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and representatives from and against any and all claims, demands, causes of action, losses, expenses, damages, or liabilities, including reasonable attorney’s fees and court costs, arising from or related to your:

  • Acts or omissions on or off the Service;
  • Violation of the rights of another, including any alleged infringement of intellectual property or other rights;
  • Breach of these Terms;
  • Disputes with or between other Users;
  • Use or misuse of the Service, including any information, content, or materials provided;
  • Violation of any applicable law or regulation;
  • Inaccurate, untimely, incomplete, or misleading User information, including registration, profile, or eligibility information;
  • Misstatements or misrepresentations;
  • Use of links to third-party websites, including any information, content, materials, advertising, products, or services on such websites;
  • Acts or omissions regarding User information;
  • Use of third-party reports;
  • Use of third-party payment processing or scheduling services;
  • Use of phone support services;
  • Use of any services, products, contracts, or arrangements based on information obtained through the Service; or
  • Any Content you provide to the Service.

You agree to cooperate as requested by Online Piano Lessons in the defense of such claims. Online Piano Lessons reserves the right, at its own expense, to assume exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by Users. You may not settle any claim or matter on behalf of Online Piano Lessons without its prior written consent.

21. ARBITRATION

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising from or relating to the Service, your use of the Service, User conduct, or these Terms shall be resolved exclusively through binding arbitration, to the extent permitted by law, under the Commercial Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”). You can obtain the AAA rules at www.adr.org or by calling 1-800-778-7879. If there is any inconsistency between the AAA rules and this arbitration provision, the terms of this provision control unless the arbitrator determines that applying the inconsistent terms would result in a fundamentally unfair arbitration. This arbitration provision is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act, 9 U.S.C. §1 et seq.

You and Online Piano Lessons will attempt to agree on a single arbitrator. If you cannot agree, each party will select an arbitrator, and those arbitrators will jointly select a single arbitrator. The arbitrator will decide based on the evidence presented and applicable law. The arbitrator may award the same types of damages and relief that a court could award on an individual basis. The arbitrator will issue a written decision containing the essential findings and conclusions, and the decision is final and binding.

Arbitration will take place at a location reasonably convenient to both parties. Judgment on the arbitration award may be entered by any court with jurisdiction. Each party will pay its own attorneys’ fees unless applicable law provides otherwise. If you demonstrate that arbitration costs are prohibitive compared to litigation, Online Piano Lessons will cover fees as necessary to prevent the arbitration from being cost-prohibitive.

Nothing in this arbitration provision prevents you from seeking relief through an administrative agency if required by law, including exhausting administrative remedies where necessary. You are not entitled to double recovery or additional monetary benefits beyond what law requires.

To initiate arbitration, submit a claim to the AAA and send a copy to info@onlinepianolessons.com. You may represent yourself or be represented by an attorney. Online Piano Lessons may assert counterclaims in the arbitration.

If a tribunal or arbitrator finds this arbitration provision unenforceable, any disputes will be brought exclusively in a California court, and you submit to the jurisdiction of those courts. All disputes are personal to you and Online Piano Lessons and must be brought individually, not as a class or representative action. This waiver may be severed if necessary to preserve enforceability.

This section does not prevent either party from seeking equitable relief to enforce confidentiality or non-circumvention obligations.

No Class Action or Jury Trial
You and Online Piano Lessons agree that any claims must be brought individually. Arbitration may not consolidate claims or be part of a class, representative, or consolidated proceeding. Relief awarded will only benefit the individual bringing the claim. You also waive any right to a jury trial for disputes arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms.

22. INJUNCTION

You agree that any material breach of these Terms may cause irreparable harm to Online Piano Lessons for which monetary damages would be inadequate. In addition to any other rights and remedies available at law, Online Piano Lessons may seek equitable relief, including preliminary and permanent injunctions, if such a breach occurs. You waive any requirement for the posting of a bond or other security if Online Piano Lessons seeks such an injunction.

23. NOTICES; MODIFICATION AND TERMINATION OF SERVICES; AMENDMENT OF TERMS

Online Piano Lessons may provide notice to users via email, regular mail, or by posting notices or links on the Service. Online Piano Lessons reserves the right, at any time, to modify, suspend, or terminate the Service (or any part thereof) and/or your access to it, with or without notice. Online Piano Lessons may also delete or restrict access to related information and files. Online Piano Lessons is not liable to users or any third party for any modification, suspension, or termination of the Service, or for loss of related information.

Online Piano Lessons may amend these Terms at any time by posting the updated Terms on the Service.

24. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the substantive laws of the State of California, without regard to its choice of law provisions.

25. CALIFORNIA TERMS

California Release
For California residents, to the maximum extent permitted by law, you hereby release Online Piano Lessons and its officers, employees, agents, and directors from any and all claims, demands, liabilities, losses, and damages of every kind arising out of or in any way connected with any disputes. You expressly waive the provisions of California Civil Code §1542, which states:

“A general release does not extend to claims which the releasor does not know or suspect to exist in his favor at the time of executing the release, which if not known by him must have materially affected his settlement with the releasee.”

California Consumer Notice
California users of Online Piano Lessons may contact us with any complaints or questions at info@onlinepianolessons.com.

26. ENTIRE AGREEMENT

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Online Piano Lessons relating to their subject matter and supersede any prior versions of the Terms.

27. ASSIGNMENT LIMITATIONS AND PROHIBITIONS

To the extent permitted by law, Online Piano Lessons may assign or delegate these Terms, in whole or in part, to any person or entity at any time without your consent. You may not assign or otherwise transfer the Terms or any rights granted hereunder. You may also be subject to additional terms and conditions that apply when you use Online Piano Lessons or third-party products or services. Any unpermitted assignment is void, and any other assignment shall inure to the benefit of Online Piano Lessons and its successors, assigns, licensees, and sublicensees.

Section headings are provided for convenience and shall not be given any legal import. These Terms will inure to the benefit of Online Piano Lessons’ successors, assigns, licensees, and sublicensees. To the extent that anything in or associated with the Service conflicts or is inconsistent with these Terms, the Terms shall control. Any express waiver or failure to promptly exercise any right under these Terms will not create a continuing waiver or expectation of non-enforcement. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid by law, regulation, court, or arbitrator, that provision will be replaced with a new provision accomplishing the original business purpose, and all other provisions will remain in full force and effect.

28. REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS

Lessons are intended to occur as scheduled. Lessons can be rescheduled or cancelled with appropriate notice, which is at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson time. To reschedule or cancel a lesson, you must do so through our scheduling platform or by contacting us at info@onlinepianolessons.com as soon as reasonably possible and at least 24 hours before the lesson.

Payments are nonrefundable. There are no refunds or credits for missed lessons, unused packages, or subscriptions. Following a subscription cancellation, you will retain access to any credits you have already purchased. At our sole discretion, we may provide a refund, discount, or other consideration (“credits”) to some or all members. The provision of credits in one instance does not obligate us to provide credits in the future.

If a student is dissatisfied with their first lesson, they must contact info@onlinepianolessons.com within 24 hours. We will work with the student to reschedule the lesson, find a different teacher, or, at our discretion, refund the lesson price. This policy does not apply if the student has already taken additional lessons, misses a lesson, or is late to a lesson.

If a student is more than ten minutes late to a lesson or does not attend and has not rescheduled, no refund will be provided.

Refunds will not be provided for technical failures, power outages, or unreliable internet connections beyond our control. If a teacher is unable to provide a lesson due to a student’s inadequate hardware, bandwidth, or inappropriate conduct, no refund will generally be issued. If a student believes a teacher’s conduct makes a lesson impossible, they must inform info@onlinepianolessons.com within 24 hours. All such situations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
