A Major Scale (The Definitive Guide)

A Major Scale - OnlinePianoLessons.com

In this post, I’ll discuss the A Major Scale. I’ll show you what it is, how to find it using the nifty Major Scale Formula, as well as some other useful tips and tricks to help you along your piano journey.

As the image above shows, the notes in the A major scale are A, B, C♯, D, E, F♯, and G♯. This of course, is just one octave out of 7+ on the piano.

An octave, as you may know, are 8 notes in a scale which exist in a specific frequency or pitch. Octaves closer to the right of the piano have a higher pitch than octaves to the left of the piano.

This is why keys on the far-right side of the piano sound very high, while keys on the far-left side of the piano sound very low.

The A major scale can be played in any octave on the piano, regardless of which end of the piano it’s near.

Unlike the A minor scale, the A major scale has a “bright” and “happy” tone to it.
