Frequently Asked Questions

Why Choose OnlinePianoLessons.com?

Unlike other piano courses, which consist of just a giant ZIP file of content that you have to sift through (like with PianoforAll), unstructured and arbitrary video "courses" that don't contain interactive and comprehensive exercises or quizzes (like with Pianote and on YouTube), or drastically overpriced courses costing nearly $1,000 (such as PianoinaFlash and Pianoin21Days), my course is comprehensive, structured, contains videos, PDFs, articles, interactive exercises, quizzes, tests, is affordable, and simply works.

Also, OnlinePianoLessons.com is owned and operated by one person only, me, Thomas Hlubin, Pianist Composer, Creator of the Piano for Beginners Course, and founder of this very site. Also, my online piano course is constantly evolving and I add new content to it all the time (new chapters, lessons, exercises, eBooks, etc.)

I've never played piano before, will this be too challenging for me?

The Piano for Beginners Course was made just for you, someone who's never played before or someone who has very minimal training on the piano. I take special care throughout the course to take baby steps when introducing new concepts and techniques. And you can also always email me questions any time and I'll get back to you with a quick answer ASAP!

What age group is the Piano for Beginners Course for?

This online piano course is made for adults of any age and teenagers. This course, however, is not particularly designed for pre-teen kids. Although, if a parent would like to work through each lesson alongside their child, then it could still be very beneficial.

How long will I have access to the Piano for Beginners Course?

You will have lifetime access to the course (i.e., for as long as this site exists and only with the initial email you used when the initial payment was made).

Does it matter if I have an acoustic piano or a digital keyboard?

No, it doesn't matter at all! While an 88-key piano is highly recommended, the course can still be effectively completed with a digital keyboard that has as little as 61 keys.

How long will it take before I sound good on the piano?

This course is designed to get you playing beautifully on the piano as quickly as possible. After your first handful of lessons, you'll be able to sit down in front of your piano and play beautiful notes and chords. And after a few chapters you'll be acquiring enough technical skills and knowledge that you'll be able to easily play your own melodies and improvise beautiful chord progressions on the piano!

Will I need to practice each day? If so, for how long?

As is the case with most skills, the more you practice the better you'll get at it. With that said, I recommend that you practice piano at least 15-30 minutes per day. If you can squeeze in an hour per day, then that would also be extremely beneficial.
